Our Story
The Swanson Training Group (STG) was founded by former Deputy Sheriff, SWAT operator and LEO sniper, Trampas Swanson and wife, Candace Swanson, Florida State Leader of the national not-for-profit, Armed Women of America. Since the company's inception, we have been blessed to have a staff of amazing NRA / USCCA Instructors and Range Safety Officers join us to provide a wide range of classes available to the civilian market.

Our mission statement is to put students in touch with their "inner Lions" by understanding situational awareness and educate them through the use of modern tools and techniques in the self-defense and firearms industry. The Swanson Training Group aims to break from the often ineffective traditional rhetoric of other instructors simply regurgitating text full of outdated concepts. Our STG Instructors strive to be different and more effective by teaching proper mindset, biomechanics and efficient use of natural fighting instincts. Through being interactive with students and sharing firsthand experience, our instructors can spend time on where it is needed most, focusing on the individual student's needs.

The goal is to give students the knowledge and skills to survive in the world around them safely and successfully. This includes first time gun owners, the newly licensed concealed carrier, those who may not be comfortable yet in carrying their firearm, perhaps those who prefer women only courses or simply wish to learn through one on one private training. STG also welcomes experienced shooters looking to enhance their skills and enjoy the added benefits of a structured formal training environment. Our courses are great for those transitioning from military, private contracting or law enforcement fields into the civilian firearms world. You will find NRA and USCCA certification courses as well as unique Swanson Training Group content as well. We don't just offer classes, we offer guidance into your firearms experience from novice to instructor level and beyond.
